An underwater earthquake cracks open a crater deep beneath the ocean’s surface unleashing a prehistoric predator. On the sleepy island of White Sands, local teens drink and party beside a beach bonfire. One of them wanders off after a pretty girl and disappears, leaving only a severed hand behind. It appears it’s been bitten and ripped off by a vicious animal. This looks like a shark bite, but it’s found well above the high tide line, it can’t be a shark… Or can it?

The search for the bottom of the creature feature barrel continues with “Sand Sharks”, a film which explores the long pondered philosophical question as to what would happen if sharks could in fact swim through sand. Boldly tackling this controversial issue are director Mark Atkins (also responsible for the charming “Battle of Los Angeles”) and writers Cameron Larson (“Mysterious Island”, “Alligator X”) and Joe Benkis (“Shadow People”), with an intriguing cast of television stars and vaguely familiar genre faces that includes Corin Nemec (“Supernatural”), Brooke Hogan (“Brooke Knows Best”), Gina Holden (“Saw 3D”), Julie Berman (“General Hospital”), Nick Hogan (“Hogan Knows Best”) and Vanessa Lee Evigan (“Journey To The Centre Of The Earth”). For the brave or curious, “Sand Sharks” hits region 2 DVD in January through Chelsea Films.

After seven years in solitary, Jake Green is released from prison. In the next two years, he amasses a lot of money by gambling. He's ready to seek his revenge on Dorothy (Mr. D) Macha, a violence-prone casino owner who sent Jake to prison. He humiliates Macha in front of Macha's lieutenants, leaves, and keels over. Doctors tell him he has a rare disease and will die in three days; Macha also puts a hit out on him. Loan sharks, Zack and Avi, demand Jake's cash and complete fealty in return for protection. Jake complies, and through narration and flashbacks, we watch him through at least three days of schemes, danger, and redemption. Who is his greatest enemy?

A tribute to the ocean, "Oceans 3D" takes viewers on a voyage through, among others, Californian kelp forests, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and Roca Partida Island off the coast of Mexico, which is home to thousands of sharks. Audiences will witness some of the most spectacular and unforgettable scenes of life beneath the waves ever captured in 3D: the manta ray's enchanting ballet; the noble procession of hammerhead sharks; the lion fish's relentless hunt; a group of young dolphins playing algae-football; the astonishing beauty of the Spanish dancer sea slug; and a unique encounter with the largest cetaceans on the planet.
